We're engaged! Woo Hoo!
BUT - let me start off by telling you about my whole day. I arrived at work early this morning - parked my car, got out of my car, proceded to close the door, with my left pointer finger in it. I don't really remember how it exactly happened, but the door closed completely, and was locked with my finger in it. Stpid ass me tried to pull my finger out. Luckily I still had the keys in my right hand. It didn't hurt that bad. I took off my cheapo black gloves to look. And there was the blood... And then I ran...
I ran 2 blocks to work, saw the security guard, the wonderful nurse and everyone else who took care of me. I am not going into too much details now, but my finger was gross. I was hysterical to say the least. The secretary drove me to th emergency room and my parents met me there. I could not get in touch with Bill because cell phone service has been suck ass.
We were there for 3 hours. It turns out I fractured my finger and need to see a hand surgeon on Monday. F-ing A! It's not like I play the guitar, or the piano, or crochet, or sew, or do anything with my left hand right????
So, Bill get's to my house at 4:00 - he had no idea. I'm laying on the couch, in my sweats. He asks me if I needed anything - soda, tea, soup and I say no thank you. He goes to the kitchen and comes back and says - "I know how to make your finger feel better" And he get's down on bended knee and the rest is history! I said yes, of course! He iced my boo boo LOL! Could a proposal story get any better than this???
Love you Bill! Marry me Bill! And to think today was Leap Year - the only day where a gal could propose, and if the man said no, he would be subject to a fine. My hand looks crusty in the pic - I don't know why - my nails are not chipped like that. Well - maybe my pointer finger!

A New Doll
Just wanted to introduce to you my newest dolly! My mother purchased her today at a doll show in New Jersey. AND she was only $10. I love those kinds of deals. She always keeps her eyes open for me - she knows exactly what I like - and loves to contribute to my collection obsession!
She's a vintage Herman Pecker pose doll that was made in Japan.
She's in practically perfect condition. I named her Jenny a little while ago. Jenny has the cutest light blue yarn hair, original hang tag, shimmering floral print dress, a red felt book, and red tights.
I know my mother bought something else - but she wouldn't show it to me. She's probably saving it for Easter or maybe my 30th birthday. It's right after Easter - so hopefully I get it soon! What can it be? Stay tuned...
I'm staying up as late as I can tonight, so I can be miserable at work on Monday morning. No, just kidding. I really am not tired.
Happy Sunday!
Hugs,
Renee

Scarfette
I used the leftover yarn I had from my www.FolkTale.Etsy.com purchase - It wasn't long enough to make a neck warmer, so I had to improvise with what I had laying around! Not bad, if I do say so myself!
Also features a little red wooden bead and a crocheted flower!
I'm not going to try and rewrite this pattern. I found it in Donna Kooler's Encyclopedia of Crochet. Page 142. It's called the Solid Shell Stitch. My starting CH was 12 + 1.
I love how the shells separate the colors and you can really see the pattern forming within the colors! (c;
Now, I have no more beautiful yarn - need to buy some more! (c;
My vacation is over - back to work on Monday. Can you hear me crying???

Complete Scarf, A Scalloped Ending
Well - the yarn came in the mail yesterday. And needless to say, the scarf is complete today. I think I was just too darn excited about the colors - and combine that with a whole week off of work, and you get this beauty.
I don't like writing patterns, but here it goes for anyone who's interested.
CH 15 (Plus one for turning)
SC for 2 rows (Allow 1 turinging chain at the end of each row)
DC for 1 row (Chain 2 at the end of each row)
Repeat until you get your desired length.
Scalloped endings:
CH 2, 2 DC in same stitch
Skip 2 SC
Slip stitch in on SC
Skip 1 SC
5 DC in next SC
Skip 1 SC
Slip stitch in next SC
Skip 1 SC
5 DC in next SC
Skip 1 SC
Slip Stitch in next SC
Skip 2 SC
2 DC, CH2, Slip Stitch in last stitch
WHEW!
I have no idea if any of that is correct.
Felt pin handcraft by moi. I used a button, some sequins, some seed beads, and size 10 crochet thread. It is only pinned to the scarf and can come off at any time.
This scarf reminds me of something Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie would sell for a million dollars! But this one is mine, and it is not for sale, so sorry!
I know I keep repeating myself, but awesome yarn is by

YAY!
AND PS I have a tiny bit of yarn left over - maybe I'll make a little plushie animal if it snows tomorrow! I just need to get some more stuffing!

The Making of a Scarf
Well - I decided to make a scarf because I didn't want to run out of yarn.
I finished the first skein last night. I didn't do anything fancy because I wanted the yarn to speak for itself. It's simply alternating 2 rows of single crochet and 1 row of double crochet.
Check back soon for possible felt appliques and or fringes. Not sure exactly where I am going!

www.Folktale.Etsy.com
I bought these two handspun skeins on Etsy. These are my first ever handspun skeins. So excited. Don't know exactly what to do with them. They're 142 and 152 yards each.
I'm thinking a crocheted scarf. Check back in a couple of weeks to see what I have made.
You must check out www.folktale.etsy.com! Her colors are simply the best!

Early Spring Anyone???
It was over 60 degrees yesterday! The weather actually felt hot and humid. Spring anyone???
I made this little chenille bunny from a kit I purchased on Etsy. It took less than an hour to complete! I love it.
I also have a cat I need to make. Easter is early this year! Cannot wait! (c;

My mother's doll collection!
Why do I collect so many dolls? Perhaps I take after my mother!
What do you think? Is she crazy? Am I crazy? Or maybe we just collect things because it makes us happy! Who cares!!

Melted Crayons
This is what happened when one of my students left the crayon box on top of the radiator. The worst part about it is that I saw the box on the radiator, but for some reason I did not think they they would melt. Foolish me!
They (4th graders) thought it was the coolest thing and suggested I sell it on Ebay for one million dollars. I wonder... Any takers?? Hee Hee
The pencil slides in and out, so one little boy suggested I use it as a pencil holder. So cute! (c;
Now I'm actually inspired to take my leftover crayons and make something out of them.

Valentines, 2nd Grade Style
Goodie trays for one of my second grade classes. I teach them art twice a week, so we had a little fun with Valentines Day today. I love random, fun, artsy, found material, collages - especially those made by little children. I made 24 trays full of pink paper, crepe paper, pipe cleaners, hearts, ribbon, vintage Valentine copies - etc!
And baskets full of more goodies!
Oh - and I love to paint with glue - red and silver glitter as a bonus! (c;
Happy Valentines Day everyone! (c;

Happy Valentines Day!
I purchased this necklace from http://www.geelizzie.etsy.com/ and it arrived just in time for Valentines day! I love it! Thank you Elizabeth! Click the link to check out a fellow Etsy jewelry artist.
Happy Valentines to everyone! Bill bought me a wonderful dolly from www.japanesesweetshop.com - which I'll hopefully be getting tomorrow. I'll be posting pictures of her soon too!
Hugs,
Renee

I am my mother's daughter...
Well - a few days ago I posted a little blog about this wonderful case I found at www.all-pop.com. My order arrived today - and it's the cutest purse.
I showed the purse to my mom - and she recognized the photo right away. She already had it as a postcard. She thinks it may be from the 60's, but she's not sure.
Now, before I make any more purchases, I need to check to see what my mother has.
If you think I have an outrageous doll collection, wait until you see hers! One day, when I get a chance, I will post some pics, if she lets me.
