Had some extra time today to make lot's of goodies for the shop. I was feeling bad when I got home because I absolutely suck at softball, so I had to do something to cheer myself up.
It's not that I suck at softball, because in fact I used to be very good. I can hit that ball. I can hit that ball to third base. I can catch. I can run. BUT I guess we need to change "I CAN" to "I USED TO". Argh! I can hit the ball in the batting cages. Just give me a real live team, and well, I suck.
So, let me make my jewelry and be happy. I am very proud of my Etsy shop and how well I have done in the past two years. Honestly, I think the shop sells itself. As a full time teacher, I really don't have much time to promote. All I have is a myspace account for the shop (which I rarely check) and my flickr account and my Vista Print business cards.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in the past two years. My first sale was on June 2, 2006 to my dear friend Dana. My first REAL "non-friend" sale was on July 2, 2006.
So, it's just about two years that By Renee has been running! Please keep checking back all summer long - lot's of goodies goodies goodies on the way.
Hugs to you all! Especially Danielle - because she's on my softball team, and is probably my only "real-life" friend who reads this! LOL

Stop the Presses...
I currently have 0 bids on Ebay right now. I cannot remember the last time I could say that.
Perhaps my will power is coming to life. But the last day of school is shortly approaching - June 26th to be exact. 4 working days, but who's counting? Probably every teacher and student I know...

What did I buy at the Renegade Craft Fair?
Well - I always get very excited this time of year - because I get to go to the Renegade Craft Fair in Williamsburg.
Unfortunately it took us over an hour just to get on the BQE, so we weren't in the best of spirits.
It was hoooottttttt and crowded, but I made the best of it.
I bought four things for myself and a t-shirt for Bill.
1. Print by Swallowfield
2. Felt ornament by Cherry Box
3. Vintage craft straw from Cathy of California
3. Soap sampler from Biggs and Featherbelle
I wish it were more than once a year. I wish it were in May so it wouldn't be that hottttttt.

When I was in the second grade, the student teacher punished the whole class and had us write something a thousand times. Mr. Chu was his name. Unfortunately, our teacher did not like that and yelled at him! hee hee
I don't think it's working for me now, either...

My Latest Creation
Iit's been a while since I made anything because of my broken finger. But I just found out on Friday that the bone is completely healed. I just have to wait about 4 more months for the nerves to get better and for the tingling sensation to go away.
Please say hello to my Pretty Bunka Gal. She's still awaiting a name.
Since these dollies are so hard to get my hands on, and I love them so so so much, I decided to make my own.
Now, of course she's a little different than the traditional bunka, but I love her just the same.
A little bit of felt, stuffing, and some vintage lace! (c;
Hugs, Renee

Save the Date - July 11, 2009
Ok - so I'm really ahead of the game with our Save the Dates! Love how these turned out! I have all the parts ready. Now I just have to make 100 of them! BUT I have plenty of time!
Brown kraft tags are from barnridgeblessings on Ebay.
Stamp was made by www.terbearco.etsy.com
Vintage wedding image from www.CandyConnection22.etsy.com
Scrapping paper, ribbon and stamps were from Michael's on Staten Island.
Yay! I am so proud of myself. It was probably cheaper to order them somewhere - but this is so much fun!
They're about 6 inches long or so, and will fit into a regular envelope, I hope!

Recycled Crayons - Gifts for my students
As an art teacher, I ended up with lot's of little crayon bits and bobs this year. And from experience, I've learned that children do not like to use these. There's nothing like a brand new crayon with that beautiful point. They Crayola sharpner helps bring them back to life, but it's still never the same.
I purchased two mini muffin pans on ebay and baked them away! One is in ther shape of stars and the other just has circles.
I put them in little baggies with some sequins and added a label. I'm going to give them to all the students on their birthdays! Yay!
